TRUTH & JOY, a two-day FREE event, offers islanders and visitors an opportunity to learn island racial history. Come celebrate our island’s rich diverse cultures with art, music, food and poetry.

The MV Diversity Coalition is laying the groundwork to eradicate racism. Truth & Joy will bring people together from across the island and beyond to dig deeply into our island’s racial history. On Friday, June 24th at 5:30 PM, there will be a plaque dedication organized by the African American Heritage Trail of Martha’s Vineyard. At 6:30 PM, TRUTH will feature a presentation by Andrew Patch, current President of the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association, focusing on a history of early residents of color at the Camp Meeting Association. A moderated community discussion will follow.

All events to be held at the Tabernacle — 80 Trinity Park, Oak Bluffs and are offered in collaboration with the Martha’s Vineyard Camp Meeting Association. The celebration is free and open to the public.
