Patricia (Pat) Washington

Pat Washington is currently a tax and business consultant with First Boston Tax and Business Services and Avant Consulting. Her professional career includes over thirty-nine years of service with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Inc. (BCBSMA) where she held a number of leadership positions in Business Operations, Finance and Information Technology.  Prior to retirement, Pat was Vice President of the Internal Audit & Risk Management Division and the Corporate Information Security Officer (CISO).  In her audit role, she developed corporate audit strategy and provided leadership to a team of internal auditors and risk advisory staff. As the CISO, she established the company’s Data Security policies, monitored corporate-wide compliance with state and federal regulations governing the protection of personal health information.

Pat has a passion for mentoring and developing others and led BCBSMA’s Finance Development Job Rotation Program for over fourteen years. The program identified, mentored, coached and sponsored high-potential associates for future leadership roles by combining a series of job rotations with a competency-based development curriculum.  

Pat currently serves as the Treasurer on the boards of Action for Boston Community Development Corporation (ABCD),  the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation and the Martha’s Vineyard Diversity Coalition  and also serves as a member the Executive Committee (Secretary) on the board of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, Inc. and Chair of the Cambridge Jazz Festival Foundation board. . She is a volunteer Tax Preparer for the Internal Revenue Services’  Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program sites located in Boston and on Martha’s Vineyard where she prepare free tax returns for community residents during the annual tax filing season. 

She co-Founder and serves as a financial advisor to a youth investment club (The Young Skitz);  formed to help Black youth  understand personal financial management concepts, importance of developing wealth building skills and begin saving and investing at an early age. Pat was co-Founder and Senior Partner of the MAAJECS Investment Club, comprised of fourteen black women.whose mission was to become educated on how to build and maintain wealth strategiesvstrategies through investments in the the stock market. 

Pat is a member of the Middlesex County (MA) Chapter of the Links, Inc.
